QUIKSILVER KING OF THE GROMS 2008
Young surfers (groms) from all around Ireland will travel to Rossnowlagh, Co Donegal this weekend for the Irish leg of the Quiksilver King of the Groms. The Quiksilver King of the Groms, a worldwide series to encourage young surfers, that culminates annually in a world final in France bringing together the hottest young surfers from all over the World.

The event will be hosted by the Irish Surfing Association in conjunction with Rossnowlagh Surf Club. Rossnowlagh Surf Club, celebrating its fortieth birthday this year, has the biggest junior members in the country.
The event will include U16 Boys, U16 Girls, U14 Boys and U14 Girls. Last year’s U16 Boys Champion, Sligo’s Aaron Reid (Quiksilver Team rider) will be aiming to defend his title against some tough opposition in the form of Barry Tuffy, Enniscrone and James Garvey, Rossnowlagh.
 
The event will kick off at 9.00am on Saturday 28th June with registration followed immediately by first round heats.

GIRLS' SURF CAMP
The Irish Surfing Association will be hosting a Girls Surfing Camp in Strandhill, Co Sligo from June 30 – July 3 inclusive. The camp is designed to help junior girl surfers develop their surfing and is run under the Irish Sports Councils Women in Sport Programme. Two of Ireland’s top women surfers, Ashleigh Smith and Shauna Ward will be running the four day camp.

Any girl wishing to attend must have their own surfboard and wetsuit and be capable of standing up in white water. The camp cost €10 for the four days and can be booked through the Irish Surfing Association (Tel 096 49428 or E-mail info@isasurf.ie 
 
SURF INSTRUCTOR COURSES
An additional Level 1 Surf Instructor Course has been included on the Irish Surfing Association calendar. The course will take place on the 1st and 2nd July at U.I.S.C.E, Elly Bay, Belmullet, Co Mayo.
The Level 2 Instructor Course scheduled for Ballyshannon in June has been reschedule for July 7-8 at the Tirhugh Resources Centre, The Mall, Ballyshannon, Co Donegal.

BUNDORAN BOARD RIDERS WARM WATER CLASSIC
The Bundoran Board Riders Warm Water Classic will take place at Tullan Strand, Bundoran on July 5-6. The event will include a junior and senior competition and expression session.

BUNDORAN SURF GIRL STAFF REQUIRED
Bundoran Surf Girl Irelands first all girl surf school and surf shop is looking for freelance lady surf instructors/shop assistants. Candidates must be ISA qualified and have an enthusiastic nature. The positions are freelance and at the moment would be for July/ August and weekends in September.

About International Surfing Association
The International Surfing Association (ISA) is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the World Governing Authority for surfing, bodyboarding and surfriding. It was originally founded as the International Surfing Federation in 1964 and has been running world championships since 1964 and the Junior World Championships since 1980. 

ISA membership includes the surfing National Governing Bodies (NGBs) of over 50 countries on six continents. Its headquarters are located in San Diego, California. It is presided by Fernando Aguerre, first elected in 1994 in Rio, and re-elected six times since.  The ISA's four Vice Presidents are Alan Atkins (Australia), Robin de Kock (South Africa), Maile Aguerre (Hawaii) and Mike Gerard (USA).
