National champs Brown and MuÑoz travel to Indonesia

Once the Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championship 2008 in France was over, the current Costa Rican National Junior Champion, Carlos Muñoz from Estrillos, became part of the group of surfers that make the annually dream trip to Indonesia. Gilbert Brown and his brother Ronald are the other two Costa Rican surfers on the adventure.

The purpose of the trip is to make a DVD. The producers of this project will soon tell us about it, and we will know if it will be for sale or will be part of material that artist Tony Roberts will compile with photographs.

Peruvian Matías Mulanovich, Sofía Mulanovich’s brother, and Jimmy Rotherham are the other Latin American surfers who know Indonesia quite well and that will travel there with the Costa Rican surfers.

For the Brown brothers, this will be their fourth trip to the islands. As for Muñoz, this will be his first experience and also a great opportunity to gain an even bigger reputation as a promising Latin American surfer.

‘Cali’ Muñoz will commit to a difficult task back at home on June 24. He will have to catch up with school work. He has been absent for 20 days of high school: 10 days at the World Championship in France and 10 more days in Indonesia.

About International Surfing Association
The International Surfing Association (ISA) is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the World Governing Authority for surfing, bodyboarding and surfriding. It was originally founded as the International Surfing Federation in 1964 and has been running world championships since 1964 and the Junior World Championships since 1980. 

ISA membership includes the surfing National Governing Bodies (NGBs) of over 50 countries on six continents. Its headquarters are located in San Diego, California. It is presided by Fernando Aguerre, first elected in 1994 in Rio, and re-elected six times since.  The ISA's four Vice Presidents are Alan Atkins (Australia), Robin de Kock (South Africa), Maile Aguerre (Hawaii) and Mike Gerard (USA).
