According to the President of the Pan American Surfing Association, Maile Aguerre, what made the difference in the International University Surfing Challenge were the details. “Everything was perfectly well organized in this competition. The details made the difference, and it became a model for other events to come.” Juca de Barros, President of the Brazilian Surfing Confederation, added that “the University Challenge helps these surfers to promote themselves in the national and international surfing scene”.
The University Surfing International Challenge was sponsored by the Prefeitura Municipal de Fortaleza, the Governo do Estado do Ceará (Turism Office and Sports Bureau) and the Ministério do Turismo.
