Guatemala has ten new Level-1 judges
In order to boost competitive surfing in Guatemala, ASOSURF –Guatemalan Surfing Association-, directed by the former Olympic swimmer Alvaro Cruz, promoted a course for Level-1 surfing judges in the framework of the International Judges Program maintained by ISA.
ASOSURF Director, Salim Argueta, was in charge of organizing the course in Guatemala, while the instructor was Nino Lauro, Head Judge and International Technical Director.
Ten new judges participated in this initiative as well as national champion Abner Rivera, who is starting to prepare himself for acting as the future coach of new Guatemalans talents.
Consulted about the results of this course, Nino Lauro said that all participants showed great interest in each and all of the subjects approached. He also declared that the city of Antigua, where he was hosted by ASOSURF, is an historic jewel that is truly worth visiting. And last but not least, he enjoyed good waves at the Iztapa breaks, in company of the newly ISA accredited judges.
“We are sure that these types of initiative will help the expansion of surf in the country of the Quetzal bird”, declared Mr. Argueta.
