Ecuador is going to the Juniors
The Ecuadorian Surfing Federation announced the names that will represent their country in the sixth edition of the biggest tournament for Under 18 surfers on the planet, the Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championship that will be held in Le Penon Plage, Seignosse, France from May 24 until June 1.
A nearly complete Ecuadorian team will be competing in the famous French beach break with 11 out of 12 surfers that make a full team. The short list includes:

Ecuadorians placed 17th in the overall team rating last year in Portugal and they are looking forward to making their way into the top. In Brazil 2006 they obtained a respectable 13th place, in USA 2005 they placed 16th and in Tahiti 2004 they placed 19th.
Surfing in Ecuador has been growing a lot in the last ten years. The number of professionals is growing and is easily over 10, when, in the 90’s there were no pro surfers at all. This new generation of surfers is the future of the sport in the country, and as far as we can see, everything looks bright.
About International Surfing Association
The International Surfing Association (ISA) is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the World Governing Authority for surfing, bodyboarding and surfriding. It was originally founded as the International Surfing Federation in 1964 and has been running world championships since 1964 and the Junior World Championships since 1980.
ISA membership includes the surfing National Governing Bodies (NGBs) of over 50 countries on six continents. Its headquarters are located in San Diego, California. It is presided by Fernando Aguerre, first elected in 1994 in Rio, and re-elected six times since. The ISA's four Vice Presidents are Alan Atkins (Australia), Robin de Kock (South Africa), Maile Aguerre (Hawaii) and Mike Gerard (USA).
