Hurricane Magnum won by a landslide in the Reef Classic Argentina
Magnum Martinez acted as a real surf machine during the last day of the first stage of the ALAS tour.
His class, talent and experience gave him his second triumph in Argentina, the first one was in Reef Classic 2006.
Magnum Martinez was the winner of the Reef Classic Argentina. This is the first stage of the ALAS tour and it was carried out in Biology’s waves, Mar del Plata. Magneto beat the Mexican Diego Cadena in the final with total concentration and real talent. Cadena reached the final as one of the favorite ones.
“I’m really happy that I’ve won in this beautiful city. I always manage to participate in this event because I feel really at home in Mar del Plata. Besides, my friends are here and that makes it better.
I want to thank the Mar del plata people because they are always very nice to me. There are a lot of people I want to thank too, but now I could only think of the Passeri family, Galindo brothers, the Usuna family, Ricardo Sarrasino, Di Piace, Marcelo Tapia from La Princesa, and specially to Seba Loustau and Rodolfo Sotura from Quiksilver”, said a happy Magnum Martinez to Surfpress once the final was over.
Martinez also remarked the high level of competition Diego Cadena showed. “Diego is a great surfer, he is able to ride big or small waves very well. The final was really tight...but I considered myself a Samurai when competitions start and that concentration allowed me to win again in Argentina”.
The path to his second victory in Argentina
On the first heat from that day (fifth round) the Quiksilver International team member left behind Lucas Santamaría, the Argentinian surfer couldn’t do anything against Magneto’s experience, inspiration and strength.
In the quarters, Magnum had to fight against Brazilian Ernesto Nunes, current Latin American Champion. And once again the Venezuelan surfer proved how to ride small waves. With accurate cuts he made it to the semifinals.
Magnum competed against a fellow countryman in the semifinal. The ascending Rafael “Nono” Pereyra couldn’t stop Mr. Martinez’s inspiration in spite of his spectacular performance.
Magneto made an excellent waves’ selection in the final, and put his board in a straight vertical position in the most difficult parts of the wall. This gave him a deserved victory against the Mexican Cadena.
Magnum Martinez will stay in Mar del Plata until January 23. After that he will travel with Kale Carranza to the south of Chile in search of new adventures.
