Inilek Wilmot and Elim Beckford are 2007 National Champs

After a thrilling five event National Open Championship Series, which saw participation from thirty nine competitors, Inilek Wilmot and Elim Beckford rose to the top of the heap and were declared Jamaica's 2007 National Open Male and Female Surfing Champions respectively.
Inilek Finished the season with 4260 of a possible 5000 points in the men's division while Elim finished with 4390 points from 5000 in the Ladies division.
Both hail from Bull Bay on the south eastern coast of the island and surf for Jamnesia Surf Club. Events were conducted at Lighthouse surf beach, Makka surf beach, Copa surf beach, Peenie Wally surf beach and Boston Bay surf beach.
The overall standard of local surfing has improved by leaps and bounds over the past 5 years as can be witnessed at the local surfing events which are put on by the JSA each year. Local spectator turnout has also been steadily rising and press, TV, and radio coverage have all significantly increased.
