Stephanie Gilmore
Rookie to Star in just one year
2007 will be a year to remember for the Australian surfer Stephanie Gilmore. She couldn’t have a better debut. With her enormous talent she got over all her fears and lack of experience and became the first ever rookie to win the ASP World Championship Tour.
Stephanie Louise Gilmore was born on January 29, 1988 in Murwillumbah, New South Wales, Australia. She started surfing with great talent when she was 10 years old on a bodyboard.
It didn’t took long for the sponsors to take her to the next level. Gilmore signed with Rip Curl, the legendary brand took her to several Search trips where she begun to shape her style. The same style she shows on every free surf session and on every heat she competes.
Stephanie had already won two Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championships. The first one at Papenoo, Tahiti in 2004 in the Under 18 division. And a year later, she won the same division in Huntington, California.
There is no use in talking about Stephanie’s technical details or talent because it has been analyzed repeatedly. No words can express what this 19-year-old girl is able to do on her board.
ISA WSN’ crew congratulates the new ISA Star: Stephanie Gilmore, the girl who finished high-school to become World Champion in just one year.
