Once again the Panamanian surfer broke his own record. He became national champion for thirteenth time in Panamanian surfing history in Cambutal Beach with a great performance.
This record will be a hard one to beat for future generations.
Last Sunday Gary Saavedra became a legend once again as he won the national championship for the thirteenth time in his career. The biggest surfer in Panamanian history showed his talent one more time.
Saavedra had an outstanding performance and thus obtained this important triumph in Cambutal waves. He beat Diego Salgado, Patrick Castagnet and David Godoy in the final.
“I want to thank my sponsors that have always trusted me, and specially my family: my mum, my brother and my girlfriend Monica who has always been by my side in all the competitions. After this new title I think I’m ready to leave national competitions. I will help younger surfers, I want to see some other Garys Saavedras in a few years”, said to Surfpress Saavedra from his home.
Saavedra also talked about the international competitions (ALAS) he will participate on next year and the trips he is planning to make in order to produce some videos and graphic productions with friends.
Saavedra reached the finals in the six stages of the National Tour 2007 that took place in different Panamanian beaches.
Gary Saavedra has proved to be very focused with his career, he has even paid his own trips to represent his country sometimes.
Saavedra broke the spell and achieved an impossible goal: thirteen national championships. Future surfers will have to work hard if they want to break this record.
Gary Saavedra is sponsored by:
Billabong, Red Bull, Nissan X-trail, Reef, Cerveza Balboa, Vonzipper, Byrne Surfboards, Free Style, Prolite, Futures Fins, Copa Airlines, Super Deportes, Extreme Surf and Skate.
