The first stage of the National Surfing Tour (CNS 2008), the Mango Cup, took place December 8-9. We enjoyed great moments and tough finals in all the divisions.

Around 200 hundred surfers participated in this exciting event that was carried out in Copacabana Hotel. More than 300 surfers had registered in the different divisions.

“I was really impressed by the number of kids that participated in the event. Young boys from Malpais, Pavones and some other places.
They will take the place we occupy now in 8 or 10 years. And I’m also happy because the waves were good enough to raise the level of surfing even more” said the national champion Diego Naranjo.

Luis Vindas surprised everyone as he won in the Longboard division where he competed against big names. Ronald Reyes obtained the second place, third was Mauricio Umaña and Diego Naranjo fourth.

Vindas made some aerial maneuvers with the longboard that made the crowd enjoy the heat until the end of the heat.
“It was a really good heat with great waves.
I didn’t know I was going to win, everybody did a great job but I rode good waves. I´ve surfed with a longboard like three times but I did my best and won this division”, said longboard winner Luis Vindas.

But the big sensation was the Open division’s final where the national champion Diego Naranjo fought against Jason Torres, Gilbert Brown and Germanine “Nino” Medrano.
