The Venezuelans were grand entertainers in Iquique

Venezuelan surfing continues to progress and in the last Pan American Surfing Games the national team clearly demonstrated their continuous evolution.  Rafael Pereyra was the best surfer of the team and put forth a great battle against three international rivals in the final of the Junior category. 

Ruth Parra was another strong weapon who snagged fourth place in the women´s final.  She climbed the podium in Iquique, asserting herself as the only Venezuelan woman to obtain a Pan American medal.
In the Longboard division, Ronald Reyes placed fifth after giving a great show. 

Venezuelan surfing continues to grow.  Next year it will host the Juniors games in the first Pan American Games held exclusively for this category.  It will not be surprising when the locals have more than one surfer with strong results.
