The “CharrÚas” and a long bus trip to Chile

After countless hours aboard a bus, the Uruguayan surf team arrived to Iquique just in time for the 8th Pan American Surfing Games.  The “charrúa” delegation had competitors in almost all the categories and managed to place ninth in the general classification. 

Luisma Iturria, the Uruguayan surfer with the most international experience, had a great start and surfed several great waves.  Sadly she was affected by the decreasing quality of the waves which changed her place on the podium.

After much effort, the “Celeste” returned itself in the international arena which is a good sign for surfing in the Oriental Republic of Uruguay.
