The Pan American Champion speaks
Source: Surfingperu.com
I have learned a lot this year, from the persons that I have met, from the victories and defeats I have had, but all of this adds up and this time things went well for me, in every moment I was determined to succeed. As someone said to me "it is to believe in yourself", and I believed in myself... I believed that I could go a long way, I believed that I could win ... I believed in myself. This championship was and is very special for me, and I was supported by my dad and my daughter Lucía.
Although we remain in third, the Peruvian team showed its claws and gave its best. It persevered and fought until the last moment. It was amazing to travel as a team and to represent your country. It’s special and fills me with pride. The grand TEAM.
I want to express my gratitude to everyone for their different forms of support during this last stretch, to my Mother and Father who took care of me on my trips. To those that gave me their hand without expecting anything in return, to those who lifted me up with their simple words and did not leave me vulnerable, to those that made these trips better with their pleasant company, and to those that without their support this would not be possible. The list is too long to name each person, but one more time to everyone, THANK YOU!
This is an important victory that fills me with happiness and at the same time gives me more confidence for the upcoming events. Now I will travel to Barbados and Costa Rica for the last 2 stages of the Latin Tour. I expect to improve my position and to place among the top 5 in the ranking so that the next year I am prepared to fight for the title. Also, next year I hope to be competing in more WQS tournaments.
Regards,
Javier.
