MEXICO

Two Mexicans were not enough in Chile

The performances of Dylan Southworth and Abel Estopín, the only representatives of Mexico in the 8th Pan American Surfing Games, resembled an act of heroism on behalf of the Aztec colours.

The two athletes fought until the very end and gained the most points possible to achieve the best position.  That effort carried them to the fifteenth spot in the final ranking.

Dylan Southworth, who participated in the Open and Junior categories, made the biggest sacrifice of the two Mexican surfers.  Dylan was not able to concentrate on either of the categories because he had to leave one heat and run to the next, which had already started.

Nevertheless, the Mexican showed that he is an athlete with a great future and despite the unfortunate situation he finished in 41st place in the Open and 31st place in the Junior category.

His counterpart, Estopín, finished in 29th place in the Open category.
