Nicole Morgan 7th at Billabong Girls Queensland Surf Series

Nicole Morgan recently finished 7th in the Open Women’s division in the final event of the prestigious Billabong Girls Queensland Surf Series. This professional event attracted Queensland’s top female surfers and took place in 3-4ft surf at Southport Spit, Queensland, Australia. Nicole kicked off by winning her heat with a couple of high scoring waves.
This result was a great start for Nicole who travelled to Australia in August with the aim of perusing her competitive surfing having completed her finals in Physiotherapy at UCD last May finishing top of her class.
Nicole has been pushing the boundaries of Irish Women’s surfing for several years. She was the first Irish woman surfer to compete on the BPSA (British Professional Surfing Association) tour winning it in 2005. She made her decision to travel to Australia aware that this was where she needed to go to find the level of competition and coaching to drive her competitive surfing to a new level.
She is once again leading the way for Irish woman surfer competing on the WQS (World Qualifying Series) while striving for a top eight finish at next years World Surfing Games.
