Ireland defines National Junior team this weekend

The Troggs Junior Surfing Championships, hosted by the Causeway Coast Surf Club and the Irish Surfing Association will be held in Portrush waves next weekend –March 24/25th-. The contest is the final selection event for the Denny Irish Junior Surf Team to compete at the ISA World Junior Surfing Championships in Portugal in May.

The event will include Under 18 Surf, Under 16 Surf, Under Surf, Under 18 Girls Surf, Under 18 Longboard and Under 18 Bodyboard. Young surfers from all over Ireland will be making their way to Portrush in the hope of earning precious points for selection to the Denny Irish Junior Surf Team. Four Under 18 boys, four Under 18 girls and four Under 16 boys will be selected to compete at the ISA World Junior Surfing Championships.

The contest will commence with entries at 9.30am on Saturday morning at East Strand, Portrush. Irish Surfing Association membership card will be required to enter. Entry fee £10 (approx €15)

The contest will coincide with the official opening of a new Watersports Centre at East Strand.
