The National Nicaraguan Surf Circuit (CNSN) board of directors chose the ten surfers that will represent their country at the second edition of the Central American Championship that will take place at La Empalizada beach, Department of Escuintla, Guatemala.

The Nicaraguan team will be composed by the following athletes:
Open Category: Roque Calderón, Augusto Chamorro, Mario Martínez and Gustavo Noguera.
Juniors: Rex Calderón, Larry Dávila, Junior Martínez and Darwin Jacomo
Ladies: Ashley Blaylock and Elsy Marín.

At the past edition of the competition, at Esterillos West Beach, Puntarenas province in Costa Rica, Nicaraguans finished second, after the host country.

The regional championship’s competitions will begin on March 30 through April 1st, day in which the first places will be disputed among the representatives from Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Guatemala.

The President of CNSN, Ricardo Morales, commented: “We are going to the competition hoping to repeat the success of the previous phase, when we were vice-champions. The surfing level of the athletes we chose is very good, that is why we are certain that they will once again play a very dignified role”.

He added that in the last years Nicaragua has managed to consolidate a circuit with a suitable regularity, which contributed to produce a new generation of surfers that in the past years have started to gain experience at international events.

“The organization of the local championship has allowed our boys to increment their performance little by little, improving their maneuver repertory. Furthermore, it has given them the opportunity to learn the details of a competition”, Morales added.

CNSN was founded in February 2006 and at the present time carries out five official events named after the cell-phone company “Claro” and which are co-sponsored by other trade marks belonging to the surfing industry.
