ISA Coach Trainer Brazilian Marcos Conde went to Jamaica once again in
February for a follow up on the Level 1 coaches course which he
conducted last year.
Four Level 2 coaches were accredited after the one week course which
focused on "Elite Surfer" coaching. The trainee coaches worked with
members of the National Junior and Open teams.
Physical, Psychological, Technical and Tactical training drills were
designed and conducted based on identified weaknesses in the individual
team members.
The Jamaica Surfing association is looking forward to see this training
reflected on the Junior performance in the World Junior Surfing
Championships in Portugal this May.
Jamaica placed 22nd on the last WJSC at Brazil, 19th at the 2005 WJSC at
California and 23rd at the 2004 WJSC at Tahiti.
