Shannon Kieffer
Chelsea Roett.

Manager: Andrew Lewis
Assistant Manager: Rachel Roett
Coach: Peter Corbin.

Barbados placed 19th in the last WJSC, as the Team Manager, Andrew Lewis said: “The team is going through rigorous training with the intent on getting our ranking back into the top 10”.

“Our team was selected after holding two trials events in February. Its not the strongest but we do have a strong Under 16 surfer in Bruce Mackie, who actually had one of the highest scoring waves in last years event in Brazil. He´s sponsored by Quiksilver and will be doing a couple of Pro junior events in the USA in April before heading to Portugal.

Our team is a very young one this year, with an average age of 14. All have been training very hard and should progress through their first round heats. Only 4 out of the 12 have ever competed in a big contest like the WJSC, so nerves will be a factor for them as well.”

About the Barbados Surfing Association -BSA-
The Barbados Surfing Association run and develops all surfing competitions on the island. The association focused for the past few years on the juniors of the sport and helping to put surfing on the map for our country.

BSA holds 8 surfing events through the year which form part of the Surfer of the Year Championships. These events start in February and run until November. They are held at various breaks around the island, which gives the surfers the opportunity to surf different types of waves and conditions.
