Latest news from Surfing New Zealand

It’s been a great last few weeks in the world of surfing for Kiwis.  It was kicked off with Ella Williams being crowned ASP World Junior Champion in Brazil and coming back to a spectacular home coming and media frenzy.  Since then we have been down to Taras for the National Primary School Champs at the grass roots level.  Combine that with five weeks straight of learn to surf sessions through Kiwi Sport and ASB Community Trust.

To top it off over the last week we have had Wini Paul and Thomas Kibblewhite competing at the ASP World Longboard Championships with TK placing ninth yesterday afternoon – the best ever result by a Kiwi at the event.

Lastly we have Richard Christie as the last man standing in the final WQS event of the year in Hawaii.  He blazed through his first round and is set to tackle 12-15ft Sunset Beach tomorrow.  Top all that off with #nationalsurfingday on Sunday!  Have a good one people.
