Insight Adventures Joins Forces with the ISA to Continue Developing the Sport and Beach Culture in China.

Sanya (Hainan, China), 13/07/2013. With consistent waves and great enthusiasm among the local surf scene, a number of the leading surf schools on Hainan Island have successfully attended the International Surfing Association (ISA) Level 1 Surf and SUP course. 14 surfers, locals and foreign residents will now become the first certified surf instructors officially accredited by the ISA in China.

“I’m very honored and excited to have the ISA and Insight Adventures delivering the first professional surfing and SUP instructor accreditation course on Hainan Island,” said ISA President Fernando Aguerre. “Following up on the success of our ISA China Cup and ASP’s Hainan Classic in January in 2012 and 2013, this is another important step in the ISA’s plan to develop surfing and promote the love for the beach and surfing culture in China.”

Jamo Borthwick, from the Gold Coast of Australia, has been assigned the important task of presenting the course. “I’m really excited to be here in Sanya and assist in the growth of surfing. This course marks an important step in the development of a professional surf industry in China.” Borthwick has over 15 years of training and coaching experience and he owns one of the most well regarded surf schools on the Gold Coast, “Walkin’ on Water Surf School” (walkinonwater.com).

“The enthusiasm shown by the local surf community has been unparalleled,” commented Wade Pearce, CEO and cofounder of Insight Adventures (insight-adventures.com) during the final banquette “we studied, shared experiences and caught waves together: this course has made our surf community even more united and aware of its professional capabilities”.

And this was just the beginning. Insight Adventures and ISA are already organizing the next Level 1 Course to be held in December, this time with mandarin interpreter and translated text-books!
