ISA Note-Worthy Quotes

It was different than winning $10,000. I did this for my country...there was no money involved. It's all about the medals. I got a gold, plus a silver for our team for taking 2nd. That's the sutff you just take home to live off and cherish more than a paycheck. But I know it will pay me back tenfold. I got exposure for my brands right in front of my market. And I'm so glad to do that for Volcom. They've always backed me up.

Juan Ashton of Team Puerto Rico in an interview with Eastern Surf Magazine, WMSC 2007

Though the finals did not go the way I had hoped, I am really happy with my achievements during the ISA World Games. It is so cool surfing for my country, being a part of such a great team, meeting the other competitors from around the world, I just feel so lucky for this experience.
-- Courtney Conlogue of Team USA, WSG 2006

To the ISA, the world games was the best surfing event I've ever seen. that includes the US open and the WCT events here and the triple crown in Hawaii.  I attended the 96 games and this years seemed like it was three times bigger. The commeradery and the unique and peaceful "vibe" that is shared by  surfers all-over the world was evident throughout. Additionally, the body boarding competition was the best in a very long time and maybe ever. Thank you for providing such a grand arena for my sport.  We body boarders don't get a stage of that scale very often and the body boarding world responded with an excellent showing. My opinion was shared by my friends and there is talk of   attending the next event in Portugal
-- Robert Ikuta, WSG 2006

This was such a special event for me because typically I compete for myself on tour, but here it's for my country.
--Julia Christian Team USA Gold Medalist, WSG 2006
