ISA Announces 2007 World Masters Surfing Championship Judging Panel

San Diego, California, Wednesday, December 27, 2006:
The ISA World Masters Surfing Championship will be taking place January 20-28, 2007 in Rincon, Puerto Rico and the judging panel had been selected. ISA member nations were asked to nominate judges for International and team judging positions. The ISA Technical Committee reviewed all of the applications and selected the panel based on team’s placement at the 2006 ISA World Surfing Games, judge’s previous ISA contest experience, judging certifications and overall judging experience. 

The panel represents 7 different ISA member nations and is lead by Head Judge Cyril Nel (South Africa).  International and team judges are Jordao Bailo (Brazil), Nathalie Massin (Tahiti), Miguel Yecerra (Venezuela), Cirilo Yagual Ramirez (Ecuador) Sandile Cyril Mqadi (South Africa), Yannick Lecoz
(France) and Jorge Gonzalez (Puerto Rico).

Over 16 teams are confirmed to compete in the 2007 ISA World Masters Surfing Championship.  These Master surfers from around the globe will compete as members of their national surfing teams and will surf for medals and national pride as Master (35 and older), Grandmaster (40 and older) and Kahuna (45 and older) titles are awarded.   

The 2007 ISA World Masters Surfing Championship will be available to view online with live scoring and streaming video at www.rincon-hangout.com/isa/rinconpr.html


About International Surfing Association (ISA):
The International Surfing Association (ISA) is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the World Governing Authority for surfing, bodyboarding and surfriding.  It was originally founded as the International Surfing Federation in 1964 and has been running world championships since 1964 and the Junior World Championships since 1980. 
ISA membership includes the surfing National Governing Bodies (NGBs) of over 50 countries on six continents.  Its headquarters are located in San Diego, California.
